I will try to retype all of Mrs. Manchin’s letter so that you may read it. She seems to agree with everything I said and to be frustrated by the same bureaucracy. She is on the WV state board of education and says that she brings comments from parents and teachers and students to the board. But, now what? The First Lady, and maybe the Governor, agree with me. How does that help me?? How does that help change the school?? My cronies and I want to DO something…and we want to ASK Gayle Manchin to help us. Exactly what do we ask?? We were wondering if there is ANY POSSIBILITY that we could get the state to declare our school an independent school district and continue to support the school and pay the teachers, etc….There are so many steps involved in that….I get stuck trying to figure out how we would explain how we want it to work and then worry that if I cannot figure it out, even though I’m motivated, it is going to be a rough road to get someone NOT motivated to figure it out. Got any brilliant ideas?? If they allowed charter schools, I really think half the battle would be done. We’d just need to find the money…
