SBA money for Altizer Elementary Windows

By goodnessgraciouswv

Did you know that Cabell County got $50,000 to replace the windows at Altizer Elementary from the SBA in March 2007?  That is GREAT!  I had no idea.  Makes me think, though.  Instead of building new, consolidated buildings, perhaps we could have gotten more money for improving our current buildings…? I know that the Enslow/Beverly Hills thing probably won’t mean 2 hours on a bus for those kids, but since the SBA was formed in 1990 lots of schools have closed in West Virginia (read The New Rules article), and lots of those kids have to ride on busses for a long time.  Heck, that 1990 date seems to ring a bell with the consolidation of our high schools for Cabell County… And the story I’ve always heard is that it is cheaper to build new schools (for the County), but they have to be consolidated schools, because the SBA will only provide money for new school buildings and those schools have to meet minimum size requirements.
